Witti Beddi Charge Alarm Clock REVIEW

I’m a chronic snoozer. When my alarm goes off in the morning, I hit the snooze several times before I actually get up. I know it’s a terrible habit to have, but what can I say? I’ve done it for as long as I can remember and these days, the habit isn’t getting any better. For the past couple of years, I have been using my iPhone almost exclusively as my alarm clock, but I’ve honestly missed the traditional buzzing from a standalone timekeeper. There are many choices out there, but I thought, “Why not go with something that has a little more style?” That’s when I landed on the BEDDI Charge from WITTI.

DETAILS

About a year ago, I had the chance to try out the BEDDI Style, which was another alarm clock from WITTI, but it had a ‘smart’ feature built into it and was quite large. One of the biggest differences between the two BEDDI clocks is their sizes. The BEDDI Charge is designed to have a much smaller profile and only provide a charging dock (3 USB output ports), a colorful nightlight, and an alarm clock. The devices USB ports are only intended for charging. The built-in color changing light can be used at two different brightness settings, which make it work for both a night light and a mood light. The BEDDI Charge is meant to be simple and get the job done. The BEDDI Style also functions as a speaker with other smart functions. I think it’s important to note the comparison between the two. So, I have outlined them here:

BEDDI Style BEDDI Charge Alarm Clock YES YES Alarm Sound Your Music, Preset Preset Number of Alarms 4 1 Sleep mode/Nap mode YES — Mood Light Multicolor, react with music Multicolor Bluetooth Speaker YES — White Noise Wind, Fan, Rain, Ocean, Forest — USB Charge Ports 1 (2A) 3 (3A combined) Customizable Smart Button 1 — App Controlled Yes –

The BEDDI Charge provides charging ports for your phone, tablets, or other USB charged devices. You can wake up smoothly with an increasing alarm sound and yes, you can still snooze if you choose to. There is an adjustable brightness setting (4 levels — bright, medium, low, and off) on the clock display for those who prefer total darkness when they sleep. It’s very lightweight (only 183g) and comes packaged with a power adapter.

USER EXPERIENCE

The BEDDI Charge comes in a well-constructed box. That might sound odd, but I’ve seen a lot of poorly packaged devices and I was happy to see a thicker cardboard box used for this lightweight device. On the front of the box, you will see an image of the product housed inside with the brand and product name also stamped on the front. If you flip the box over, you will see a nice image of the rear panel on the device, which features the USB charging ports and the classic WITTI brand name and design pattern. There is also a small battery compartment for a backup battery so that you don’t lose your alarm if you lose power.

When you open the box, you will find the BEDDI Charge, its power adapter, and a short user manual. Because this is a simple alarm clock, getting started with it is very…simple. Since it’s not a connected device, you just plug it into the wall for power and set the time and your alarm. That’s pretty much it. The BEDDI Charge is actually the ideal alarm clock for me because it has the integrated USB ports and I usually charge at least two devices on my bedside table — my iPhone 7 and my Apple Watch (series 1). Before I added the BEDDI Charge in, the table was getting pretty crowded. Now, it’s a lot more cleaned up. The alarm is actually a gentle beeping noise that does increase the longer it goes unchecked. After about 10 seconds, the beeps also get faster as well as louder. It is a high-pitched beep though and I think that people who have trouble hearing high pitches would have trouble with this alarm sound. I used a decibel app on my phone to test how loud the alarm got and the room got up to 75.7dB when the alarm got to its peak volume. Overall, it showed an increase of approximately 15dB from start to finish.

In addition to the basic alarm clock functions, I decided to run tests on the charging ports with my iPhone 7. I plugged it into one of the ports labeled ‘phones’ with a standard Apple Lightning cable. It started charging right away. I used a USB Digital Tester to check the power delivery from the BEDDI charge. I got a reading of 4.74V/0.83A, which is pretty standard for the iPhone 7 when it charges. The USB ports on the BEDDI are only supposed to produce a combined 3A of power delivery, which would equate to 1A per port.

CONCLUSION

I really like having this stylish, unique alarm clock on my bedside table. It gives me another alarm option and it also provides a very nice nightlight. For around $30, this is a fairly priced clock based off of the features it provides. I can recommend this to any type of user.
