I spend a lot of time carrying around my laptop (a 13-inch MacBook Pro) and tablet (a 12-inch iPad Pro). And of course, along with those devices come several must-have accessories. When it’s all said and done, I have kind of a sizeable pile of goodies that goes with me pretty much everywhere. Over the years, I’ve become quite the connoisseur of digital accessory bags. I’ve used everything from a simple tote bag to the most exclusive of messenger bags designed for the top-tier digital users. Everyone has their own ideal ‘go’ bag that carries their absolute essentials when they are on the go. Even though I’ve had the opportunity to test out most styles of bags, I tend to come back to the backpack. Backpacks are by nature designed to be ‘on the go’ so why not select one as your ‘go’ bag. For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been carrying around the Circuit Laptop Backpack from Swissdigital and it’s been wonderful.

Details

The Circuit Backpack is designed to be rugged and is constructed of 1680D ballistic nylon and dobby nylon. There is a molded EVA compartment for housing a portable battery (not included), phone tablet and other electronic devices. The left shoulder strap is prewired with a mesh pocket to hold your phone while it’s charging. The laptop pocket is also molded EVA and it will fit up to a 15-inch laptop. In addition to the laptop pocket, there is also a padded tablet pocket, EVA molded back system, organizer pocket with key clip, and dual-size zip pockets with mesh compartments. The backpack offers the user RFID protection and is FAA compliant with carry-on regulations as it measures 19.5 x 11.5 x 8.26 inches. The Circuit is also TSA approved as the laptop sleeve will allow you to quickly move through security (it opens up fully).

User Experience

As I mentioned above, I’ve been actively using the Circuit backpack for a couple of weeks now. I always have it with me when I go to work and sometimes when I am out in public places where I can work. I’ve been mainly using it for my laptop, tablet, and their accessories. That said, I have on occasion used it for other items as well as a water bottle, various clothing items, and paperwork. The backpack has excelled at being a great daily carry-all. My laptop has always remained secure and I love that the middle compartment is large enough to accommodate most items that I throw into it.

As far as testing goes, I didn’t do any major stress tests, but I can say that after two weeks of traveling back and forth to work and then additional side trips, it’s holding its own against the elements. The only real issue I’ve had is getting the iPad Pro to fit easily into the same compartment as the laptop. My MacBook Pro rests easily inside the laptop sleeve, but the tablet will barely slide into the tablet pocket. I do have a rugged case for the iPad as well as the Smart Keyboard from Apple so it’s a bit bulkier than a simple iPad with no covering.

In addition to the main pockets, I really LOVE the top handle on the backpack. There are so many times that I will pick a backpack up by the handle and carry it that way. For that reason, I need a hefty handle on a backpack. Swissdigital obviously had that in mind when they designed the handle because it’s reinforced and padded. The handle is easy to grip and no matter how much weight is in the bag, I have been able to carry the backpack easily. I’ve also been very impressed with the straps. They are padded and designed to handle a full bag. The bag has been comfortable to wear under any circumstance that I’ve used it in.

Conclusions

The Circuit Laptop Backpack from Swissdigital is a great solution for someone who not only likes to carry their laptop and accessories but also a variety of other objects. I love that it is wired for battery use and that you can use your own battery rather than an integrated power bank that you can’t switch out. This backpack gives you the flexibility to use any power bank you choose. I am very happy with this bag and am looking forward to using it for quite a long time.
