SideNotes is the ideal app for note-scribblers — like me.

If you are a multitasker like me, you make lots of notes throughout your day. I’m constantly pulling out my phone, scribbling thoughts on scraps of paper, and even starting documents on my laptop just to keep notes together. I’ve used many different note-taking apps over the years and for the most part, it seems like they cater more to the long-form note taker.

I’ve wanted something that is similar to a notepad that I keep on my desk. SideNotes for macOS does just that. It’s available when I need it, but out of the way when I don’t. It has made note-taking without leaving my desktop or having to launch another application a possibility.

An Overview on SideNotes

SideNotes is designed to be a distraction-free option for quick note-taking. On its surface, it’s a notepad that lives on the side of your monitor. There are two ways to reveal it — click on the SideNotes icon in your menu bar or click on the semi-transparent bar that hovers on the side of your screen. When a user does either of these actions,

SideNotes will slide out from the side of your screen (you can choose the left or right side of your screen within the app’s preferences). SideNotes combines
