Scosche MagicMount Pro Home and Office

The secure suction Home/Office mount from SCOSCHE will give you back your hands.

The MAGICMOUNT Pro Home/Office arrived in a classy 3 1/8 inches wide by 6 1/8 inches tall by 3 3/4 inches thick retail package. The front panel displayed the title along the top, an attractive silver magic mount image along the center and an additional image along the bottom detailing the included optional Apple Watch mount. Examining the two side panels, you will see a clear plastic window on one side. I love the clear window display technique, which provides a superior glimpse at the product. Markedly superior to flat imagery, the window provided a clear image of the product that you get to take home and enjoy. The panel provided a side view of the base of the mount, the silver-metallic arm, and the top swivel magnetic attachment point. The opposite side panel displayed “MAGICMOUNT PRO HOME/OFFICE” title in bold black font upon a matte white surface. The rear panel provided two small photograph-quality images across the top, which detailed the mount in vertical and nightstand modes. Combining neodymium rare-earth magnets with a StickGrip strong suction base, Scosche brought their A-game to this phone mount.

Returning to the cover, I lifted the small nylon tab and unrolled the flap. The inner surface showed a large image of an iPhone 8 plus with oval metallic plate stuck to the back. The panels detailed the dual magnetic plates that were included within the packaging and the installation/use of the product. Install the metallic MagicPlate directly to the phone, between a phone/case or to the case directly. Next, the packaging discussed the installation of the MagicMount base, which was quite easy. Press the base firmly into a flat surface like a mirror, table, desk, etc., and then lower the suction arm. When secure, simply mount your device to the magnetic attachment point. With the case fully opened, I was pleased to find a direct view of the product in frontal and bilateral angles.

If you were looking for a wireless charger for your smartphone, this is not the kit for you. I removed the MagicMount Pro Home/Office from the plastic tray and found a rectangular accessory box below the mount. The box contained a 1 1/8 inches wide by 1 1/4 inches tall metallic plate (small), a 1 3/4 inches wide by 2 5/8 inches tall metallic plate (large), cleaning wipe, Apple Watch charging accessory, a sticker to affix the metallic plate directly to your phone, a small hex key with screws to add the Apple Watch charger, a 2 7/8 inches diameter surface adaptor, and a multilingual instructional manual. I was impressed with the accessories and appreciate that Scosche added so many options to this mount. The mount itself measured 5 3/8 inches tall, 2 1/2 inches diameter and 3 1/2 inches deep. The upper magnetic attachment point measured 1 3/4 inches square. The rubberized attachment surface housed strong magnets and was surrounded by silver plastic molding. The magnetic section attached to the C-shaped arm via an omnidirectional ball joint. Just above the base, there was a 5/16 inches wide by 5/8 inches tall cutout for a USB plug.

To install the optional Apple Watch charging mount, use the included Allen Wrench and remove the lower two set screws. Match the holes on the Apple Watch Charger mount and add the new, slightly longer, set screws into the holes. Lift the suction lever on the base, remove the adhesive cover and press firmly onto the desired surface. You can then press the lever down to enhance the suction. With the mount installed, you can decide how you want to mount the metallic plate (to the phone, between the phone and case, or to the case directly). I loved the option to use the phone in both landscape and nightstand mode and that I could mount my phone and my Apple Watch. The kit did include a small cable management sticker, which allowed me to guide the Apple Watch cable. Beyond that, I did not like the lack of cable management. If you opted to avoid the Apple Watch mount, you could run your lightning cable for your phone through the small hole and charge your phone through a wired connection.

The 4.26 ounce Magic mount will provide the perfect mount/kickstand for your iPhone and Apple Watch. You can mount your phone on your kitchen counter and scroll through recipes or watch YouTube. You can place the mount on your desk or nightstand to enjoy a hands-free movie experience, or to read an E-Book. With the added surface adaptor, even rough surfaces become available attachment points.
