I always look forward to the latest macOS releases. I can always find a feature that I’m really excited about, but I have to admit that macOS Tahoe has been a letdown so far. This is mainly due to the app launcher feature update.

The macOS Launchpad is a system feature I use daily, and macOS Tahoe transforms it into an App Library instead. This transformation mimics the type of app launcher you would find on iOS devices. While the design of the feature isn’t bad, what is bad is the fact that you have no control over how the apps are categorized. You are just at the mercy of the metadata and however macOS is programmed to separate the apps.

I personally would like more control over the app organization than that. With Launchpad, you can split your apps up over different screens based on what you want to see grouped together. With the new macOS App Library, there is absolutely no user control. Fortunately, there are third-party apps like Quick App Launcher (QAL) that provide order to the App Library chaos.
