I have kind of an odd bedtime behavior. I like to fall asleep listening to different movies. Most of the time, they are quiet, animated movies. One of my favorites is The Secret of Nimh and I’ve been very fortunate that one of my streaming services has been carrying it regularly. About two weeks ago though, I noticed it wasn’t in my streaming queue anymore. This happens from time to time, of course, but it was frustrating nonetheless. It’s a well-known fact that different regions carry different titles on streaming services. So, I decided to turn on my VPN to try and find a region that was carrying it.

While this isn’t the best reason to have a trusted VPN available, it is one of the ways you can use that service. A VPN is designed to provide anonymity for the user by encrypting your internet connection. The service masks your IP address, which makes it harder for websites and advertisers to track your online activities. In addition to that, VPNs provide the ability for users to bypass geo-restrictions — like I just described. Even though I was using it for entertainment purposes, the truth is that geo-restrictions can prevent people from getting accurate information about current and historical events.
