A good way to protect your phone no matter what the weather is like.
I don’t expose my phone to the elements too often. To me, it’s an investment that I’ve made and I make every effort to ensure its safety. That said, I do live in the midwestern section of the U.S., which means that weather patterns are unpredictable. One day it’s 50 degree and sunny and the next it’s 20 degrees and snowing. I’ve actually lived through a day (recently) that had a 40 degree temperature difference between the beginning of the day and the end. Now that winter is upon us, I have adopted a protective sleeve for my phone from Phoozy that will keep it safe from the extreme hot and cold temperatures of my geographical area.

The Phoozy Apollo II Series Thermal Capsule comes in a box that looks similar to what you would find with a phone case. I do think it’s an older package though because the phones that are listed do not include the iPhone 11 Pro like it is on the website. The most recent model that is listed is actually the iPhone Xs. I also noticed that the package only indicates that the product inside the box is the “Apollo Series” and not the “Apollo II Series.” I did search for the SKU# that is listed on the bottom of the box and the Apollo II Series was the matching product on the Phoozy website.
I have the iPhone 11 Pro and my phone fit into the pouch just fine. I always keep my phone in a case and it still seemed like there was plenty of room for the phone. I’m not sure if it would work with a larger, defender style case, but it seems as though most cases would work with the pouch. One of the things I loved about this product is how compact it is. I love that it’s not overly bulky because that makes it much easier to tote around no matter what you are doing. I carry a small purse these days and I had no problem slipping the Phoozy into it to get from place to place in the extreme cold.
Even though the Phoozy is designed to protect your phone from extreme hot and cold temperatures, Phoozy emphasizes that it’s not meant to protect your device from the extreme temperatures caused by being left in a vehicle. We reviewed the Phoozy Tablet Capsule back in August and the following information was provided by a Phoozy representative regarding cars.
“The PHOOZY is not meant to be used in Hot Car or Cold Car. Please know that after an extended period of time, thermal balance will occur (meaning the internal temperature of the PHOOZY will match the ambient temperature). While the PHOOZY is not a phone warmer or heater, it will extend the period of time that a phone will remain at its operating temperatures much in the same way your jacket will keep you from freezing or a cooler will keep a beverage cool in the heat, but only for a period of time. In testing, we have successfully extended battery life up to 3X in temperatures of zero degrees Fahrenheit.”
I’ve used other types of insulated pouches before and haven’t liked them as much as this Phoozy Capsule. It’s sleek, slim, and made with materials from NASA. I didn’t do a lot of extreme testing with this product (I didn’t leave my phone in direct sunlight for hours on end or outside overnight in sub-zero temperatures), but I did feel like it added a layer of protection against the elements. I think that if you are an outdoorsman or adventurer, this isn’t a bad investment. I may not be a worthwhile investment if you live in a moderate climate.
