Today, as I was working from home, I was surprised by an unstable internet connection. And unfortunately, this came right when a Zoom meeting with my entire company was starting. I didn’t want to freeze during the middle of the meeting so I switched over to tethering to my iPhone just so I had a more stable internet connection.

We have extremely fast internet service from our provider, but unstable internet connections happen. The problem in this scenario was the ‘surprise’ factor. If I had Network & Battery running at the time, I would have seen the network speeds drop before it was a problem.

Network & Battery is a lightweight utility app for macOS that provides users with live data on their system. Developer Yicai Yang started Network & Battery four years ago. He said that from the beginning he wanted an app that shows real-time network speeds on his MacBook. Necessity is the mother of invention and since he didn’t have other options for an app like this, he developed it.
