If you like to listen to music while working in an office environment, you can’t underestimate the value of a good set of headphones. I always have a trusty set of cans lying around and think that those that have noise-canceling built-in are particularly awesome when you work. When I’m at home I have a variety of sounds that need to be tuned out including a 10-month old puppy. One of the things I look for in a reliable set of headphones is how budget-friendly they are. That can be just as important as how well they are built and how comfortable they are to wear. Some over-ear wireless noise-canceling headphones can be very expensive — $200, $300, $400, or higher. Fortunately, there are some product designers that value affordability and provide some decent headphones under $100 like the Mixcder E10 Active Noise-Cancelling Wireless Headphones.

The Mixcder E10 Active Noise-Cancelling Wireless Headphones are foldable over-ear headphones featuring Hi-Fi Stereo Sound, 30 hours of playtime, and quick charge compatibility. The active noise-canceling option reduces low-frequency ambient sound by up to 96% in areas like busy offices, streets, or even airplanes. The headphones feature the latest Bluetooth 5.0 technology. They are 2 times faster in transmission rate and 8 times wider in bandwidth than Bluetooth 4.2. The earphones have 40mm Neodymium Iron Boron Speaker Units with only 34-millisecond Super Low Latency built-in. The low latency offers a better listening experience for video games and chatting.

The headphones have a 500mAh battery that supports 30 hours of playtime. The battery recharges through Quick Charge technology and a 5–8 minute charge can provide up to 3 hours of listening enjoyment. A full charge of the headphones can be achieved after only one hour of charging. The earcups are designed with comfort in mind. USER EXPERIENCE

The first thing I noticed about the Mixcder E10 headphones was its price. On Amazon, the headphones are listed at $89.99, but on the Mixcder website, it’s listed for $139.99 (MSRP)/$112.99 (on sale). That’s quite a price discrepancy in my opinion. Mixcder does include buttons on the product page to buy the headphones on Amazon, but the buttons are not linked to the correct site.

After noting the issues with the information found online, I pulled the headphones out of the box. They are stored inside a hard shell travel case. I think this is an accessory that all over-ear headphones should be packaged with because it keeps the headphones safe and makes it easier to travel with them. When I pulled the headphones out of the case, I noticed that they were a bit on the heavy side, but when I put them on, they were not uncomfortable to wear. On the inside of each ear cup is a letter than indicates which ear they should be worn on (L or R). On the right earpiece, there are operation buttons that provide control for play/pause/power, volume up/down, advance/reverse, and the active noise-canceling. They are easy to use and easy to find if you try to do it without looking.

The sound quality was of average quality in my opinion. It sounded a little muffled no matter what I listened to. The bass level was adequate, but the balance between bass and treble seemed a little off. Volume levels were fine and the headphones provided a good amount of noise-isolation by virtue of the fact that they are ‘on-ear’ headphones. As for the noise-canceling feature, I wasn’t impressed with it. It does work, but the difference between the ANC being turned on or off isn’t much. Without the ANC on, I could hear lots of ambient noise including our dog’s high-pitched bark. With the ANC turned on, I could still hear the dog barking, but the air handling sounds from our furnace were diminished. I’ve used some headphones that completely negate all ambient noises, but these did not.

CONCLUSIONS

While I wasn’t overly impressed with the sound quality or ANC feature of these headphones, I think they are worth the investment based on the accessories that are included with them. The Mixcder E10’s are comfortable and travel well.
