Logitech Blue Sona Active Dynamic XLR Broadcast Microphone With ClearAmp REVIEW — MacSources

One of the more underrated devices in a desk setup is the microphone. To me, it’s incredibly important because I not only use it for voice over work, but I also utilize it when using functions like Dictation and Siri commands. For many years, I had the Rode Podcaster Dynamic USB Microphone installed in my workstation. It worked functionally well but I didn’t like how I sounded in recordings. Technically, there was nothing wrong with the microphone. I just wanted something that sounded deeper.

So, I graduated to the Shure SM7B, which is one of the more popular choices among podcasters. This was a HUGE step up for me and I was finally getting that broadcast quality sound I was looking for. The only hiccup with this microphone is that it does not have an integrated preamp. So, you have to include something like the Coda MB-1 Preamp along with your SM7B. My complete set up ended up including the following devices.
