Phone cooler is a great idea but a dead-on-arrival unit left us high and dry.

Just a few months ago, my fiancé scoured the Earth looking for a PlayStation 5. The previous year, we lucked into an Xbox Series X and this year, it was time to get the PS5. He eventually found one being sold locally and I thought that he was set as far as gaming consoles go. Shortly after the PS5 was set up, he discovered Call of Duty mobile on his iPhone. He has a controller that works with the iPhone so it’s more like a console controller. He spends hours playing COD mobile (and not on his consoles) online with people around the world.

Recently, after he had been playing for a while, he called out to me to ask if there was anything we could do to help his phone cool down. I didn’t take a temperature reading, but it was hot to the touch. I grabbed a frozen gel pack — the kind you get to help strained muscles — from our freezer and we loosely attached it to the phone. It helped, but it wasn’t a very good long-term solution.
