iWoter Bluetooth Speaker REVIEW

I’ve recently been trying to drink more water. Overall, it’s just a smart life choice as being properly hydrated can help prevent a lot of different health issues. Over the years, I’ve collected many different types of water bottles, but I’ve grown weary of them and have been looking for something more interesting lately. I stumbled upon the iWoter from iBottle that seemed to fit my unique water bottle requirements.

iBottle is an interesting company. Their mission is to promote a healthy, fit, and hydrated lifestyle. Therefore, they focus on creating design-oriented hydration products that are high-quality. In addition to being well-made, iBottle’s products are also eco-friendly. They try to keep their products entertaining so that drinking water isn’t such a chore. The first product I’ve been able to try from iBottle is the iWoter I. It’s a water bottle with a detachable Bluetooth speaker on the bottom and a built-in phone stand/dock on the side of the bottle. The speaker has a built-in rechargeable battery with up to 8 hours of playtime including an interactive LED light show. The iWoter speaker can answer/end calls as well as snap pictures from your phone. The bottle has a capacity of 560mL and it’s made from high-grade plastic. It has many color variations and has a snap-lock lid. The opening for the water is approximately an inch in diameter.

User Experience

When I sat down to start working with the iWoter, I thought that its first function is as a water bottle. So, even though it’s not necessarily ‘technology’ oriented, here is what I thought of it as a water bottle. The top of the bottle unscrews quite easily but does form a tight seal. I tossed the bottle around quite a bit and didn’t find that water was leaking from anywhere. I was a little concerned about the lid popping open, but found that it was locked tight. It is a little hard to open the lid with one finger, but I’m glad that it is because that makes it less likely to open when I don’t want it to. It kept water cool for quite a while. I did notice that my cool water became room temperature after about 4 hours out of the refrigerator, but most water bottles will have that effect. The wide mouth opening made it very easy to drink water from it. I do still like straw features a bit better (simply because I seem to drink water faster that way) but found this bottle’s opening to be more than adequate for even water consumption.

As far as the stand/dock portion of the product goes, it was a little underwhelming. I keep my phone in a semi-thick case. And as such, my phone did not want to cradle well in the dock crevice. I like having it on the bottle because I think it makes the design of the bottle look really cool, but I’m not sure how well it actually functions as a dock/stand. The speaker, on the other hand, is actually a very nice portable speaker. It unlocks from the bottom of the bottle with an easy twist of the base and locks back into place just as easily. When it comes to pairing, when you turn it on for the first time, it’s automatically in pairing mode and can be found as a Bluetooth device in your phone’s Bluetooth menu. It’s a low-powered speaker, so you can’t expect a premium sound from it, but it doesn’t sound hollow and you can definitely hear it from far away. The in-line controls work very well and are responsive with the phone and the light show is pretty entertaining. It gives the iWoter a nice flare that is hard to beat.

Conclusions

The iWoter from iBottle is a unique option for recreational hydration. I think it’s the perfect option for taking on a hike, camping trip, or maybe even boating. You can travel with your water and music, too. The iWoter is priced around $25 and I actually think that’s quite reasonable considering it’s a high-quality water bottle with a built-in speaker.
