If you are anything like me, you like to make sure your tablet is protected. My iPad goes with me everywhere and there is always a chance it might slip out of my hands. I like having the option to toss it into my purse or laptop bag and not worry about anything happening to it. That’s why cases like the Battersea from GEAR4 are a great option for everyday carry items.

The Battersea case is a hardback-style case for iPads that features 8-foot drop protection. It is protected by D30, material that is thin but offers advanced protection against knocks and drops. It’s made with polycarbonate and TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) in addition to the D30. The case also acts as a stand with an infinity angle, which means you can’t overextend the stand and comes with a built-in screen protector. It’s compatible with Apple Keyboards and has anti-bacterial properties that kill 99.9% of common surface bacteria. The treatment the case undergoes for that level of protection doesn’t wear off with use.

The Battersea comes in a simple retail package. It has GEAR4 branding on it and a nice open cutout so that consumers can feel the material the case is made out of. There are some details included on the package itself including the information about D30 and the 8-foot drop protection that the case provides. The box has an inner sleeve that the case rests in and when you remove the case from the sleeve, you will reveal the installation instructions for the case. It’s a fairly self-explanatory process if you are used to installing iPads into cases. One of the main benefits of this case over other protective is that this one comes with its own screen protector built-in. The screen protector is simply a ‘screen’ protector. It is a firm film style cover that is bound to the frame of the case.
The body of the case is quite heavy, in my opinion. It’s sturdy, but without an iPad occupying the case, the case weighs approximately one pound. The inside of the case has a semi-hard rubber layer that touches the back of the iPad when it’s installed. The buttons are covered by the TPU material and the cutouts for the charging cable, speakers, and headphone jack are all bordered by the same material. Installation is pretty easy. You simply slide the iPad into the case and then push the sides around it. The iPad feels secure, but can easily be removed if needed.
The description of the case states that it’s compatible with Apple Keyboards. The case does have a Smart Connector on the inside and the outside of the case for that compatibility. The stand is very sturdy, but it’s a little stiff when you extend it from the case body. I like that it provides the user with the flexibility of using different viewing angles with one stand.
CONCLUSION
Having a protective case like the Battersea is a great option for people who are constantly on the go. It’s a very sturdy case with an easy installation process. It is a little on the heavy side, but I like how it’s got the flexibility to be able to use Apple Keyboards and have a variety of viewing angles available.
