Charge Hub Go Plus

8.7

Perfect power bank for everyday use.

The 5000 mAh ChargeHubGO+ is my new go-to portable power bank. Its lightweight, slim design and built-in charging cables make it compact and functional enough to carry around for everyday use, and its 5W wireless charging pad sets it apart.

Charging Capabilities

With a 5000 mAh capacity, the ChargeHubGO+ has enough juice to fully charge almost any smartphone on the market at least once. Its 5V/2A wired charging output is compatible with pretty much any USB-charged device on the market, including smartphones, tablets, Bluetooth headphones or wireless speakers. And it supports 5W wireless charging. The main downside is that the ChargeHubGO+ should only be used to charge one device at a time, according to the user manual, otherwise the charging speed can slow down.

I have a slightly older iPhone 7 Plus that just can’t keep up with my daily usage like it used to. According to its battery health report, it’s working at 87%. This isn’t enough for me to replace my phone, but I’ve carried a portable power bank with me everywhere for the past several months for necessary 4 o’clock top-ups. I usually stick with the 4000mAh battery that came with my MightyPurse. But the ChargeHubGO+ has a larger capacity and takes up less space. My iPhone 7 Plus got a little less than two full charges from it.

Because I do not have a device that supports wireless charging, I was not able to test this aspect of the ChargeHub power bank. The 5W wireless charging pad is indicated by a raised ring on the front of the device and is compatible with iPhone models starting with the iPhone 8, as well as most other smartphones that support wireless charging.

Design

The best thing about this product is its functional design. It looks like a normal power bank, but it has easily-accessible USB-C and reversible Lightning/micro USB cables built into its sides. These tuck away while not in use so they don’t tangle or take up extra room. The bottom of the devices has USB, micro USB and USB-C ports. The first is an output for charging your devices from the battery, the latter two are for charging the battery from a wall adapter. I wish the power bank would have come with a USB-C charging cable for the battery instead of the included 20-inch micro USB cable, as USB-C tech is superior and more relevant to today’s smartphones and devices. The power bank also does not include a wall adapter.

The power bank is made of matte black plastic and has four blue LEDs on the front to indicate its status. It is 5.5 x 2.9 x 0.4 inches and weighs 5.6 oz. It feels sufficiently durable for normal use, but it isn’t waterproof or shockproof. This doesn’t affect its performance as long as you keep it out of the elements, but it is not built to withstand rough conditions.

Summary

I like the versatility and portability of the ChargeHubGO+, even taking into account that I can’t use its wireless charging function. The 5000mAh power bank is perfect for everyday use, as its built-in cables makes it easy to charge any USB device on the go without extra accessories.
