2x4 USB 3.0 Switch REVIEW — MacSources
At first glance, you might wonder, “What is a USB switch, and what purpose would I need it for?” A USB switch is essentially a small black box equipped with multiple ports. This device features connections at the back that allow you to connect to two devices simultaneously and switch back and forth between them effortlessly.
For instance, I have my mouse and keyboard plugged into the front of the box. In the back, a USB cable connects the switch to my Mac Mini, while another cable links it to my Thunderbolt dock, which is hooked up to my REDMAGIC tablet. The USB switch has a single small button on the top of the box; with just one push, I can seamlessly swap my mouse and keyboard between the two devices. There are many practical uses for this switch; I also find it incredibly convenient to toggle my gaming headset dongle between the two devices with the simple press of a button.
Unboxing and Setup
The product arrives in a plain box. Inside, you will find a concise instruction booklet, the USB switch itself, two USB-A to USB-A cables, and one USB-C to USB-C cable. Setup is remarkably straightforward-it’s entirely plug-and-play, requiring no additional drivers or software.
